TOC NUFWA TALKS ABOUT HIS JOURNEY AS A MUSICIAN AND NEW PROJECTS HE IS ABOUT TO RELEASE.

By Pempho Singo

Born Innocent Kanguwo, Toc Nufwa is a musical artist who does the Afrobeat genre, and he resides in the city of Mzuzu. Even though he started recording music in the year 2020, the inspiration for him to start making music came about when he was just 8 years old after his father would let him listen to different artists from abroad.

Since 2020 he has managed to release 8 singles and an EP in the year 2023. He released singles titled Nthena, So Many, and Yea Huh; all these songs were produced by a producer named Matrix.

Toc Nufwa will release a single and an extended play by the end of this month. The EP will be titled Love and Netflix. Basically, the EP is talking about his love life and experience from when he started getting in relationships till now. While the single is about someone having a crush on a girl, the girl has doubts. The single is titled ABI.

The artist also mentioned that he is working with an international artist from Zambia called Habibah, and he will also work with local artists like Tsar Leo and another up-and-coming artist, Toddie.

When it comes to features, Toc Nufwa doesn’t have any strategy he uses; he just goes for what he thinks will make a great project and goes after that. Asking him what he thinks can be done in order to fix or elevate the already existing Malawian music industry, he replied that “All I can say to my fellow up-and-coming artists is that there is a need to work hard from within oneself and then look for other platforms to promote one’s music. Because these days it’s from musicians like us where you can find the best work.”

Toc Nufwa has never felt like quitting music because he has a great relationship with his all-time producer, Matrix, and another friend who is a model, and they all together work as a team. Apart from music, the singer is a plumber, and he is also working with a certain construction company called THOD Construction, where he installs tiles for them.
