WHY SO SERIOUS? BRASS K TELLS TERTIARY EDUCATION STUDENTS TO LOOSEN UP A BIT IN A NEW SONG

By Pempho Singo

Brass K is a Lilongwe-based artist who does Dancehall music. His new song Sangawide has targeted University students telling them to have fun sometimes so that they can refresh their brains from the hard work they always put in towards their education.

The song’s audio was released on the 5th of November 2022, it was produced by MacStain Beats and was engineered by Bwata B of Third Generation Records. The song’s video will be released on the 20th of February this year it will be distributed on his YouTube channel and Mikozi’s website.

Brass K whose real name is Brian Kadwala started composing music in the year 2015 after being inspired by Malawi’s very own Dancehall artist Malinga and Jamaica’s  Masicka. After attempting to record his first song he got positive feedback and this motivated him to work on more songs.

He, later on, came in contact with JK Warrior of Alliance Records and together they worked on a couple of songs in 2018 and that was the start of his making of serious music. In the year 2019, he recorded some singles and an Extend Play titled Hidden Talent at Loyal Hustle studio owned by DJ Brown.  Brass K gave the EP such a title because he saw the way huge talent from the ghettos gets hidden and lacks exposure due to the problems like lack of finances and connections.

Brass K has worked with other artists with names in the music industry like 6TH who was previously known as Dicto B and was a member of Archaida Universe in a song titled Blessings. The artist released another EP in the year 2022 titled Back To Senses and this project has 4 songs.

The artist joined Mzuzu University and hence the composition of the new song Sangawide. The song’s video was directed and shot by Kechie and Tonney.
