GET TO KNOW RAP ARTIST ICTEE’S MUSICAL JOURNEY FROM HIS START TO WHAT HE’S UP TO NOW

Tiya IcTee Chirwa started recording music in the year 2013 after finishing his secondary school. Before that he was writing lyrics just for fun. One time he and his friends went to the studio to record for the first time but unfortunately the song wasn’t produced very well as to their expectations so they lost the track. A year after that the artist went to record another song titled ‘Chasing Dreams’ and this one was produced by Chisomo Nyalo at 123 Media just as the the first song the artist lost the second song as well due to the fact that he didn’t back it up on the internet. By the time he recorded the second song he had just started studying at MJUBAS previously known as Polytechnic. He took a break from recording music just for him to return and record another song titled ‘Za Pa Easy’ later on which he featured Young LT and Lionel. The artist later on appeared in the Poly Cypher, the Mollywood Cypher, Mollywood freestyle and the Flaws freestyle hosted by rap artist Noel chikoleka commonly known as Phyzix.

He later on made another song after finishing his studies at MUBAS titled ‘Malawi Kwacha’ which was recorded at Apache Records and it was produced by Zomba based hip hop artist Tyler Da Crisis. Whilst recording that song the producer suggested that Ictee must at least record an Extended Play so that people will recognise him. After some time he came up with an idea of the EP which he named ‘Moves’. He released a single ‘Amandidziwa’ from the project and recorded some more songs which haven’t been released yet because he wants them to be released in the EP project. ‘Amandidziwa’ has received both negative and positive feedback but the artist uses the feedback to improve in his next projects.

The current song which he has released is ‘Rap Sensei’. The song is a continuation of the previous release ‘Amandidziwa’. This new song basically talks of about how he uses his words to fight his battles. Its all about him speaking out to the challenges that he faces. The song carries part of the theme of the EP which is ‘speaking out rather than staying silent when necessary’. The song ‘Rap sensei’ can be found on the local website www.mdubsmusic.com for both streaming and downloads.
